The Mongol Army

The Mongol Army was organised in a decimal system. On the battle field they moved together in units commanded by beating drums. This gave the Mongols a massive advantage over the samurai. It was each man for himself in the samurai army. The Mongols also fought with poison arrows and other weapons that were new to the unprepared samurai.

The Samurai

The samurai were the warriors of japan. Samurai employed a range of weapons such as bows and arrows, spears and guns; but their most famous weapon and their symbol was the sword. The samurai were expected to follow the code of Bushido or the code of the warrior. Bushido stressed concepts such as loyalty to one's master, self discipline and respectful, ethical behavior. Many samurai ,for an "honorable" death, committed suicide by cutting the abdomen a slow extremely painful death. This was called seppuku.
